I finished reading The Art of Detection by Laurie King (on my Kindle!). I mostly read the Mary Russell books by Laurie King (starting with the Beekeeper’s Apprentice), which I can’t recommend highly enough. The Mary Russell books covers the story of Mary, who as a young woman befriends Sherlock Holmes.
This book is one in the Kate Martinelli series, who is a modern day detective in San Francisco. I’ve found the Kate Martinelli books to be hit or miss in general and haven’t read all of them. The Art of Detection covers a murder involving a Sherlock Holmes cosplay group. The story moves along at a crisp pace, and is pretty engaging.
Overall, the book is a nice, light read. You won’t leave the book feeling like you are changed in anyway, but it is throughly enjoyable.

Hey, I got sent over by Chris. I was thinking about getting the KIndle, but was uncertain when I found out that they sometimes edit out content. Was wondering what your experience has been?
I haven’t found that they edit out content at all… but I’ve only read a couple of books that I hadn’t read before, so I don’t haven anything to compare it to. I haven’t tried reading blogs/papers/magazines on it yet.
It’s great though… if you’re a big reader, you won’t regret getting one.
