We went to The Barking Dog Alehouse for a quick dinner tonight. It is a great little pub, a bit off the beaten path in Ballard. We’ve been there several times and always leave saying we should go there more often.
The beer selection is excellent, with a wide range of beers on tap. I usually get a Hale’s Cream Ale because I enjoy a good nitro beer, but it’s always a tough choice… there are a lot of great choices. We’ve never had any of the mixed drink, so I can’t comment on them.
The food is very much above average for a pub. Tonight I had the Southwestern Chicken Salad, which has a chicken breast, black beans, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese and romain lettuce. Hit my mood perfectly. Thena had a bacon cheeseburger, which is HUGE, with a side salad. She seemed quite content. I was disappointed that she did not order the waffle fries with her burger, as they are delicious.
This is not a dive — there are a lot of kids here… it seems to be the place where parents of young kids in Ballard who want a beer with dinner bring the family.
The TV above the bar is big and in HD, which is surprisingly rare for some reason. It’s a great spot to grab a burger and watch whatever sporting event is going on.
We’ll be back.

That is if you like children with your beer.
