This morning we tried the Bay Cafe in Magnolia for breakfast. Even though the restaurant is right next door to Chinook’s, which we’ve been to several times, we never even knew the Bay Cafe was there.
We had to wait about 5 minutes. They seemed to not have enough people doing the seating, as there were plenty of open tables. It took awhile for the one person working to seat the 4 groups ahead of us. Our table was great, we were in an elevated section that runs parallel to the huge windows overlooking Fisherman’s Terminal.
They have a lot of egg dishes on the menu. I wasn’t feeling like pancakes, so I ordered the hashbrowns, with a slice of ham and an english muffin (all sides). Thena had the special, grilled oysters with scrambled eggs topped with feta, hashbrowns and an english muffin. Breakfast came before we’d made it through one section of the newspaper.
The ham and english muffin were decent, but the hash browns were as buttery as any I have ever had. I love butter, but it was even too much for me. Thena doesn’t like shredded potatoes, but she really liked these. They were freshly shredded (not frozen), and well coooked. But oh-so buttery. Thena’s oysters were more fried than grilled, but really fresh and delicious.
Overall, a very buttery meal.

I can’t wait to try it…I can’t believe that the butter was too much for even you t-bone. You who dreamily reflects upon butter delivery vehicles!
I know! I’m as shocked as you are!
