Tenoch is a nice oasis of Mexican goodness in the International District. It is a frequent stop for me and my co-workers at lunch. We were so excited when it opened a few years ago, and have gone about once a week since then.
I used to always get the pork burrito with black beans and rice, which is great. They heat up their tortillas on the grill, rather than in a steamer, avoiding the soggy mess seen at a number of other burrito places (I’m talking about you, Taco Del Mar). You have your choice of black or pinto beans. They have a number of meats — all that I’ve tried been excellent, with lots of flavor. My favorite is the pork.
Nowadays, I usually get a taco salad, with rice, beans, pork, onions, tomatoes, cheese, tortilla chip strips, and salsa. It’s great. You can pick everything that goes on your salad. You can also get a burrito bowl, which is basically the same as above, with less lettuce. Their pico de gallo and guacamole are both very spicy, so if you are wimp (like me), avoid those.
Definitely worth a stop if you have a hankering for Mexican food while in the ID.

Hey there T-Bone — just wanted to let you know I stopped (and I like Taco Del Mar!)
Hey gb… I like Taco Del Mar too, but they do make their burritos into a soggy mess. Just speaking truth to burritos, yo.
I definitely love Tenoch! I’ve switched to getting the Burrito bowl at Tenoch instead of a standard burrito… because you get to pick and chose what is on each individual bite.
Yeah, bowl with chips is like super nachos. This was my favorite salsa in town until I tried The Saint (they press their own tortillas and stuff there too.)
