First off, I agree (mostly) with the outrage over Michael Johns being voted out. I actually thought he did pretty well last week, and is clearly more talented than some of the folks that are left. On the other hand, he wasn’t going to win, so it doesn’ t really matter. Though, I’d much rather see him than Carly or Syesha at this point.
With that out of the way, tonight was Mariah Carey night. I am not a Mariah fan. Never have been. So I was definitely not looking forward to tonight. I was pleasantly surprised, though, especially by the guys. I thought it was unfair for them to have to sing Mariah songs, but it actually was to their advantage because they were forced to change them up. There would be no direct comparisons to Mariah. On to the performances.
David Archeleta – Meh. The pagaent boy was pretty poppy, pretty voiced, and pretty boring. I don’t get it, America. He makes me feel mean because I want to punch him in the face. Like drowning puppies.
Carly – Meh again. I think this might be the week she goes home. There’s nothing there except for mom hair and Simon’s promise that she’s really, really good.
Syesha – Should have been her wheelhouse, and it was competent. Her voice is pretty, but just not strong enough to carry the diva songs she chooses.
Kristy – Blew me away for the first time this season. I don’t like her, and thought she should have gone home weeks ago, but this week she really brought it. I’d be shocked if she was in the bottom three this week.
Brooke – I thought she did really well. Her voice is clearly not like Mariah’s (a good thing in my book), so she changed up the song and sang it in her singer/songwriter style. Brooke has really grown on me. I hated her in the auditions, but now look forward to her performances each week.
David Cook – Awesome! I really enjoyed his performance and agreed with the judges comments that he sounds like someone who could be on the radio today. He did great.
Jason – The second best of the night, for me. His style is what I typically listen to (although I usually listen to women), so I usually enjoy his performances.
Bottom Three: Syesha, Carly, Brooke. Going home: Carly

I was also shocked when MJ went home. DC is still my favorite and I hope that he wins this thing. I think he is so talented and funny. It’s almost hard to believe that he’s on a cheesy reality show sometimes…but don’t get me wrong…I’m glad he is on Idol this seasons or it really wouldn’t be worth watching.
There is the best fan site ever for David Cook. If you haven’t already found this yourself you really should visit http://www.davidcooktheamericanidol.com
I will almost gurantee that it makes you LOL!
